Understanding Your Request's Status

What the statuses in Paperless mean, where to see the progress of your request, and how to get the decision.

Every request in Paperless has a status. You can see it on the page of your request, under Status. In the list under My Requests, each request is shown in a color-coded box that reflects its status. The status tells you where your request currently stands in the processing.

The Statuses

A request can have one of the following statuses:

  1. Submitted — Your request has been received. The staff in charge have it and will process it.
  2. Decision available — The processing is finished and the decision has been issued. You can now download it — see The Decision below.
  3. Decision delivered — You have downloaded the decision.
  4. Rejected — The request could not be processed (for example, because it is missing information or the request itself is not admissible). Check the content of your request and, if necessary, contact the responsible office.
  5. Complete — The request has been fully processed and closed. You can keep it for your records.

Please note: there may be an additional status ZPA — this means that the central examination office (ZPA) has recorded the decision for your request in RWTHonline. The Verlauf tab of your request shows every step in detail.

The Verlauf Tab

Select your request and open the Verlauf tab. There you will see every step of the processing as a timeline — including the status changes, messages between you and the staff in charge, and any files that were added. If a message is waiting for you, the Verlauf tab shows a badge with the number of unread messages.

The Decision (Bescheid)

As soon as the decision is available, a green banner appears at the top of your request with the button Download decision. When you download it, Paperless records the date and time.
